This business area focuses on decision and process support for application domains whose processes can be characterized by their high level of complexity as well as their weak determination of process structures. Typical processes include
- medical treatment processes in intensive care units,
- engineering of control units for engine management in the automotive sector,
- data und text analysis of heterogeneous and distributed data for business intelligence purposes, and
- decision and collaboration support for risk management environments.
The research and engineering emphasis of projects is put on
- methods and tools for the capture on process know-how,
- customization methods for process know-how due to project-specific constraints,
- media processes for context-specific dissemination processes of information,
- agent-oriented software engineering for the support of distributed processes, and
- methods and tools for data and document mining in complex information spaces with structured as well as unstructured information sources.
Our projects and products are characterized by our engineering competence to build entire systems for end-users which might be composed of components originating from many different systems. Project APNEE-TU has been honored as one of three success stories of IST research at European level by Commissioner Viviane Reding.
Our topics are:
Process Management
Intuitive tools for process capture and adaptation, process portals, execution support for loosely structured processes, requirements capture for multi-agent systems.
Information and Planning Systems
Repository systems, information visualization for structured and unstructured data, text mining, process-integrated information management, skill management, business intelligence, data integration, analyses of information flows.
