CIVILEX – Supporting European Civilian External Actions

The CIVILEX project studies how communication and exchange of information in the framework of Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) operations – particularly EU civilian missions – could be ameliorated according to the needs of the various actors involved.

The project aims to provide recommendations and a roadmap for the implementation of an interoperable situational awareness, information exchange and operational control platform. Therefore the project identifies the needs of the involved actors as well as the currently used communication and information systems and develops guidelines for systems architecture, user interfaces, information exchange and security matters for a future platform. The guiding idea is that of an easy-to-use integrated system that supports an agile approach to information and communication management in CSDP civilian missions.

Fraunhofer FIT leads the work package on platform concepts and contributes expertise in user-centered system design, development and evaluation of collaboration platforms.
