The next era of power system operations is taking shape through digitalization, artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation. To help utilities and navigate this change, Fraunhofer FIT and Accenture have published a white paper, titled "Transformation Journey Towards Software-Defined Power System Operations".

The kick-off event for the JUPITER AI Factory (JAIF) consortium took place on 7 November 2025. Following the ceremonial inauguration of the JUPITER exascale computer at the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) in September, JAIF has now been launched. Representatives from EuroHPC and the relevant ministries were able to participate in the event via a livestream. The launch of the JUPITER AI Factory marks an important milestone in the development of an independent European AI ecosystem.

Der feierliche Spatenstich am 22. Oktober 2025 für den Neubau des Fraunhofer-Instituts für Angewandte Informationstechnik FIT in Bayreuth markiert einen wichtigen Schritt der langfristigen Etablierung des Instituts in Oberfranken und Bayern. Das neue Gebäude liegt in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zum Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung IPA. Gemeinsam bilden beide Einrichtungen künftig einen Fraunhofer-Campus in unmittelbarer Nähe des Campus der Universität Bayreuth. Dies ist ein starkes Zeichen der erfolgreichen und langfristigen Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Fraunhofer-Instituten, der Universität und der Industrie.

Virtual worlds are a critical enabler of Europe’s autonomy in industry, healthcare, security, culture and education. Today, the Virtual Worlds Association (VWA) officially announces its establishment as an international non-profit association. The VWA aims to accelerate the rise of European virtual worlds by uniting communities, boosting world-class research, and moving innovations from academia to real-world markets and users. It promotes responsible, ethical, human-centric models to create positive impact on the economy, society, and public policy. The Association is now open to new members.

At MEDICA 2025, Fraunhofer FIT will present a novel solution called "AI-enabled data for medicine", which combines transparency, traceability, and capacity building in the use of medical data for artificial intelligence. The aim is to make the development and application of AI-driven methods in healthcare more understandable, verifiable, and practice-oriented.

The Hashgraph Group (THG), in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT, announced the successful completion of the WEB3 Driven Organizational Resource and Service Management project, developed within the THA Hashgraph Innovation Program.
