Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FITAfter years of steady growth and record figures in 2024, some indicators eased in 2025. The operating budget declined to € 28.9 million (compared to € 29.7 million in 2024), while total third-party funding reached € 20.4 million in 2025, well below the 2024 figure of € 23.3 million.
Contract research revenues decreased by 2.4 percent year-on-year to € 8.2 million. Revenues from German and European research grants and other sources declined by 18 percent, totaling € 12.1 million. Revenues from all external sources covered 70.3 percent of our operating budget (against 78.3 percent in 2024). The share of the operating budget covered by contract research revenues (Rho-Wi) reached 28.4 percent, equal to 2024.
In 2025, the number of FIT personnel decreased by 10 percent compared to 2024, reaching 193 full-time equivalents. Including student assistants and interns, Fraunhofer FIT employed approximately 370 people in 2025.
